This is what’s open and closed on Christmas Day in Edmonton

The holidays are here but before we get into the spirit of things, here’s what will be open and closed on Christmas day in Edmonton. After all, there’s nothing worse than a vacant parking lot when you’re looking to get some errands done before dinner.

OPEN

MOVIE THEATER

Hoping to catch a flick this Sunday? Landmark Cinema and Cineplex theaters will all be open all weekend long!

SHOPPERS DRUG MART

While we’d definitely recommend checking the hours of your local store, some free-standing Shoppers Drug Mart Locations in Edmonton will be open on Christmas Day.

WEST EDMONTON MALL

Good news, last minute shoppers, according to their website, West Edmonton Mall will be open between 12 pm and 5 pm on Christmas Day

CLOSED

THE EDMONTON ZOO

Lions and tigers and bears (oh my!) – while some of you may have been hoping to check out Zoominscence on the 25th of your trip have to wait. According to their website, The Edmonton Valley Zoo will not be open on Christmas Day.

CITY-OWNED RECREATIONAL FACILITIES AND LEISURE CENTRES

Sorry, folks – but this Sunday, most city-owned fitness and rec centers will be closed – with the exception of the Millwoods and Central Lions Recreational Centres.

COSTCO, SUPERSTORE, SOBEYS AND CO-OP

‘Tis the season to plan ahead! This year, all of the grocery stores and their affiliated liquor stops listed above will be unshopping on Sunday, December 25th.

POST OFFICES

Whether it’s an Amazon return or an invitation – it’ll have to wait! This Sunday (and every stat holiday) the post office will be closed.

And there you have it, friends. Everything that’s open/closed on Christmas Day in Edmonton. If you do decide to head out to any location not listed above, remember to double-check your chosen stores’ hours of operation.
