Reimagined Van Gogh expertise involves Edmontonton this spring

As recommended by health officials, if you choose to attend events outside of your home, please adhere to COVID-19 health and safety precautions, including reasonable physical distancing, wearing masks, and frequent hand washing. If you are sick, please stay home.

Vincent Van Gogh is an icon – both for his famous paintings and for the infamous cutting off his own ear.

The artist lives on through his work and in our memories, still known for many of his classic paintings.

The Imagine Van Gogh exhibition explores a new way to experience old favorites like “Sunflowers”, “The Starry Night” and a series of self-portraits by the Dutch artist.

The completely immersive exhibition, which has been seen across Europe as well as Montreal and Winnipeg, is now coming to Alberta.

Opened this spring at the Edmonton EXPO Center, Imagine Van Gogh offers visitors the opportunity to experience the artist’s work up close through larger-than-life projections of his paintings.

“Wander among giant projections of the artist’s paintings,” describes Imagine Van Gogh’s website, “[And be] swept away by every brushstroke, detail, painting medium and color. “

Projections cover the walls and in some places even the floors of the exhibition and give visitors a real 360 ° view. The art has been paired with carefully selected music to complete this sensory experience.

Discover more than 200 paintings by Van Gogh, including some of his most famous works from Provence, Arles and Auvers-sur-Oise between 1888 and 1890.
