RCMP seeks girl noticed in Edmonton

EDMONTON: Saskatchewan RCMP wants the public to help locate a wanted woman who may be in the Edmonton area.

North Battleford RCMP released a notice on January 4th asking for public assistance in finding Charmaine Brett Bear (also known as Charmaine Spyglass) of Battleford, Sask. There is an Albert-wide warrant for her arrest for being sighted in Edmonton.

The arrest warrant came from a December 2020 RCMP investigation into a report of alleged child abuse, police said. Charmaine was charged with neglecting the necessities of life; criminal negligence with bodily harm; Attack; grievous bodily harm; and make threats. The police followed up various leads on her whereabouts last year but did not find it.

Charmaine, 34, is described as 5’6 “with slender stature, brown eyes, and long black hair that is often worn under a prom cap. RCMP said Charmaine is known for wearing sunglasses and baggy clothing indoors.

Police suspect Charmaine is actively evading the police and that she may be traveling and staying between Edmonton, Lloydminster, North Battleford, Mosquito First Nation and Saskatoon.

According to the RCMP, Charmaine may be traveling with a man named Lyle Aaron Bear, who was indicted and arrested in January 2021 in connection with the December 2020 investigation. (There is no warrant for his arrest.)

RCMP believes that Charmaine and Lyle may have multiple children. Lyle is due to appear before North Battleford Provincial Court on January 18 for assault; grievous bodily harm; Attack with a weapon; Make threats; Failure to provide for the essentials of life; and criminal negligence with bodily harm.
