New Edmonton Eating Expertise: fifth Road Meals Corridor by JustCook Kitchens

EDMONTON –

Edmonton residents will soon find new ways to enjoy local chefs and innovative cuisine.

The 5th Street Food Hall at 105 Street and 104 Avenue houses four restaurants under one roof and a local produce market.

The Food Hall offers take-away, delivery service, an online marketplace and an app for placing orders.

Jennifer Keith, CEO and Co-Founder of JustCook Kitchens, said the intent behind the Food Hall is to provide a space for chefs with fresh ideas but who lack the resources to get into the restaurant industry, be it logistical or financial.

“We’re trying to take the strain off cooks and local producers by giving them a lot of infrastructure – kitchen equipment, space, marketing, supply chain and the technology that connects them to customers – so that they can focus on them what they do best, namely create. “

While there are currently four anchor restaurants on offer to Edmontonians, Keith said the plan is to run more weekly pop-ups to give a stage to new local food innovators.

“We plan new things every day to try and experiment or innovate to add value to chefs and local Edmonton producers and culinary professionals.”

These restaurants include Backstairs Burger, HOM, Seitan’s, and Three Foodies.

Keith said there will be food for everyone, from Southeast Asian-inspired fusion, vegan fried chickun, and decadent desserts.

The food hall was supposed to open in July, but the pandemic has pushed that back.

“It was just a matter of timing,” said Keith. “We knew things would get done, it just took a lot longer.

“We persevered and now we are open.”

The soft opening took place on October 5th and it is planned to announce the grand opening in the coming weeks.

“We had a wonderful team of dedicated people who helped us get here,” said Keith.

“It was so much hard work getting to this point,” she added. “We can’t wait to get people here.”
