Here is what’s open/closed in Edmonton on Thanksgiving this 12 months

It’s nearly turkey time again but before we stuff our faces with cranberry sauce and pie, we’ve got some housekeeping to do. Whether you’re hoping to do some errands or need to do some last-minute shopping before dinner on Monday, it’s important to know what to expect in and around the city, so – without further adieu, here’s everything that will be open and closed on Thanksgiving in Edmonton.

OPEN

MOVIE THEATER

Hoping to catch a flick this Monday? Landmark Cinemas and Cineplex locations across the city will all be open so pop some corn and settle in!

MALLS

Though we’d recommend checking their hours before heading out, West Edmonton Mall, Old Strathcona, Kingsway, Southgate Center and Edmonton City Center malls will be open.

EDMONTON VALLEY ZOO

Lions and tigers and bears (oh my!) – the Edmonton Valley Zoo will also be open this Monday and makes a great family outing, especially for those with kids!

Where: 13315 Buena Vista Rd

EDMONTON OWNED GOLF COURSES

Time to swing the sticks! Edmonton’s municipal golf courses will also be open this holiday Monday, alongside some driving ranges for those not willing to devote 4 hours of their day to get out. Enjoy!

BOWLING ALLEYS

Want something that requires a little less commitment? Some of the best bowling alleys in the city will be open, whether you’re after 5-pin or 10.

GROCERY & LIQUID STORES

Need milk or have been put in charge of a last-minute beer run? You’re in luck. Though (again) we’d recommend checking your local stop hours, most liquor and grocery stores will be open this Monday.

TELUS WORLD OF SCIENCE

Science rules! Especially when you get to check out some amazing family-friendly exhibitions and then maybe treat yourself to a movie inside the IMAX, or a little light show in the Zeidler Dome.

Where: 11211 142 St NW, Edmonton

MUSEUMS

This Monday you will be able to visit a few Edmonton museums like the Royal Alberta Museum and The Neon Sign Museum, though we’d recommend checking your chosen locations hours before heading out.

U OF A BOTANIC GARDEN

A little Thanksgiving road trip? Why not? One of our favorite spots is the U of A Botanic Garden – which offers acres of incredible landscaping and makes a great destination for those who crave a relaxed day outside.

Where: 51227 AB-60, Parkland County

EDMONTON TRANSIT

While transit will be operational on Monday, October 10th, Trains and buses will run on their Sunday schedule, so plan accordingly, folks!

Plan ahead Edmonton! This Thanksgiving, some city-owned pools, as well as fitness and rec centers will be open, while others will be operating with reduced hours. For more information, check out the city’s website here,
