Freeway 63 crash claims two Edmonton males

BOYLE – Two Edmonton men died Sunday night after a fiery head-on collision on Highway 63.

A press release from RCMP notes the head-on collision between a Ford F-150 and a Dodge Sprinter occurred at 10:30 pm Sept. 25 on Highway 63 near Township Road 642, about 15 kilometers southwest of Boyle.

RCMP said the impact caused both vehicles to catch fire and the two men, ages 47 and 57, were pronounced dead at the scene. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

There was no indication if speed, alcohol, or drugs played a factor in the crash which kept that portion of Highway 63 closed and traffic was diverted until early Monday morning.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of both deceased,” said RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Gina Slaney.

RCMP say no further information about the crash will be released.
