Every day Takeaway: Meals Central Cowork, a specialty grocery area, opens in Edmonton

The idea of ​​a co-workspace is nothing new. Virtually every Canadian city has at least a handful, but very few, that are specifically geared towards professionals in the food and beverage industry. Edmonton’s Food Central cowork, which opened just yesterday, is here to change that. The flexible, bright and open workspace, dubbed “Western Canada’s First Food and Agriculture Focused Coworking Space”, is intended for people who have business in the culinary field but outside of a traditional kitchen or restaurant, be it food producers and others Manufacturers, food writers, event planners or non-profit organizers who need to keep costs down.

In the downtown building, located in the North Edge Business District, members will find private offices, fixed desks, and flexible desks on the second floor. Beyond the space itself, Food Central Cowork offers its members dedicated collaboration programs, mail handling, professional services, advanced IT, discussion groups, salad clubs, social media exchanges, investment pitch days, and other support services.

There are currently 50 member places available in the co-working space.

Food Central Cowork was established by the Agriculture and Food Council, an Edmonton-based industry-run not-for-profit made up of representatives from various aspects of the agro-food industry.
