Omaha Steaks, the pinnacle of the mail order grocery retailer, has died aged 63

EDMONTON, Neb. (AP) – The head of the mail order business for Omaha steaks has died. Bruce Simon, who was part of the fifth generation of the company’s family owners, died Wednesday at the age of 63.

The company said its chairman and CEO died of natural causes.

Simon has led the company since 1994 when he became president of the company known for shipping high quality beef and gourmet dishes. The company employs more than 1,500 people and has 48 retail stores in 20 states.

Simon’s cousin Todd Simon becomes Chairman and CEO of Omaha Steaks. Nate Rempe remains President and Chief Operating Officer.
