Edmonton Oilers unveil new statue in honor of Joey Moss

The Edmonton Oilers have unveiled a new addition to the team’s locker room: a statue of the late Joey Moss.

Moss was a locker room attendant with the Oilers for more than three decades, becoming a fan favorite and legendary Edmontonian in the process.

He was made aware of the Oilers by none other than Wayne Gretzky and began working for the team from 1984-85.

Moss passed away in October 2020.

“Joey will be ready and waiting for high fives every time the boys hit the ice,” the Oilers posted on their social media accounts alongside a photo of the new statue.

Moss was inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.

The Oilers will play their first home game of the preseason against the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. ET.
