The Edmonton Food Bank says it had a successful Christmas campaign that met its goals ahead of schedule.

The festive campaign runs through Friday, but the Food Bank has already raised $ 2 million and 250,000 kilograms of food.

The eight-week campaign raised $ 10,000 and nearly 12,000 pounds of groceries via Candy Cane Lane, as well as other corporate and school community events.

“By donating during this time, Edmonton’s Food Bank can start the new year to help people with food insecurity and feed those who need them most,” said Marjorie Bencz, Executive Director of CM. “We collect groceries and collect donations in cans and dollars for dollars. Knowing that we have so many in our community to support our work is humbling. Thank you for helping us achieve our goals as we continue to put food on the table for our neighbors in need. “

The Food Bank is a reminder to Edmonton residents of the need to keep donating to them year-round. It serves more than 350,000 meals for about 25,000 each month.
