Edmonton is the primary Canadian metropolis to make use of Uber to ebook Lime scooter rides
Edmonton drivers can now book a Lime scooter directly with Uber, making getting around town without a car even easier.
Starting Monday, e-scooter riders using the Uber app can tap the 2-Wheels button to see nearby Lime scooters on the home screen.
Edmonton is the first city to incorporate Lime Scooters into Uber. In the coming months, the company says Uber will also include Ottawa and other cities with Lime service for seamless scooter rentals on the app.
This partnership enables Uber to offer yet another affordable, environmentally friendly transportation option in the city of Edmonton.
“In addition to UberX, Uber Green and the planning of transit trips, the introduction of lime scooters is another way that Uber offers sustainable transit options for Canadians in the app,” the press release said.
Lime’s fleet of scooters will be available to Uber drivers for $ 0.35 per minute plus a $ 1.15 fee to unlock the ride.
Ready to Book a Lime Scooter through Uber in Edmonton? This is how it works:
- Open Uber and tap “2-Wheels” to find an e-scooter near you
- Choose the scooter of your choice and follow the itinerary (you must agree to the lime terms before starting the ride)
- Unlock the scooter by scanning the QR code on the handlebar
- Your ride begins (be sure to ride on the road, not the sidewalk!)
- To stop driving, open Uber, make sure you’re parked in an authorized zone, then tap Stop Driving.
Scooter riders are advised to wear a helmet before use and to receive tips and tricks for safe maneuvering in traffic.
Uber hopes this will make it easier for Edmontons to choose a new option for getting around the city.
“We believe that micromobility can play an important role in completing and expanding the public transportation network in Edmonton,” said Matthew Price, general manager of Uber Canada, in the press release.
“Working with Lime to offer scooters in the Uber app is one of several ways to make transportation in Canada more sustainable. Together with travel planning for local public transport and Uber Green, we look forward to working together to make cities greener and cleaner. “
