Edmonton and Calgary Metropolis companies to proceed on Nationwide Day of Mourning
The Cities of Edmonton and Calgary will maintain regular services on Monday, Sept. 19, the National Day of Mourning for her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The Cities of Edmonton and Calgary will maintain regular services on Monday, Sept. 19, the National Day of Mourning for her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Calgarians can pay their respects on Monday, Sept. 19, at the Municipal Building atrium where the Canada’s commemorative ceremony in honor of her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will be broadcast from Ottawa’s Christ Church Cathedral. The service begins at 9 am Television screens and seating will be available in the atrium located at 800, Macleod Trail SE
Calgarians may also wish to sign the condolence book available on the west side of the atrium until 6 pm every business day including Monday. Notable Calgary landmarks will be illuminated in a royal blue hue until Sept. 19. These include Olympic Plaza, Reconciliation Bridge and the Calgary Tower.
In honor of her late Majesty, the bell at Historic City Hall will ring 70 times beginning at noon on Monday, Sept. 19, to honor the number of years the late monarch reigned. Any places of worship or buildings that have bells or carillons are welcome to join The City in marking this occasion.
