Ten years ago, Tyrell Ellis and his wife, Ashley Kyle-Ellis, were en route to a destination in West Edmonton, but ended up in what would eventually become the Rosenthal Ward instead. Aside from traveling astray, they wondered who wanted to live there in the first place – Rosenthal was still in its infancy at the time and years and years away from becoming a top residential destination in the West End.

“The funniest thing is, I was driving around town relatively new in 2011 and we got lost,” Tyrell said, noting that he and his wife would then say, “Who would ever live this far out and why should anyone live?” get out?”

Today Tyrell adds that the rest of the sentence now goes to “how why would anyone want to live anywhere else?”

The couple is now in their second home in Rosenthal, and should they ever move again, there is no other district that speaks to them like Rosenthal.

“The first time we bought in Rosenthal, the area was still in its infancy, and as a young man we were drawn to the great range of townhouses on offer,” said Ashley. “However, when we were ready to modernize our home, there was no question of where it would be. Rosenthal had become our home.

“The neighborhood is beautiful with well-tended parks and walking paths. It’s near everything you could need including a Costco. But what really made it feel like home is the people. Rosenthal is a district where you are always greeted warmly and see children playing outside. I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. I am proud to say that this is my home. “

Both houses – the original terraced house and their new single-family home with hinterland – were bought by Homes by Avi. The first was a special home that they just outgrew. The new home has now led them from the northern part of Rosenthal to the south-western section, as the development in the earlier phases of the community is almost complete.

The couple selected the Sheldon, a three bedroom, two and a half bedroom home that is 1,609 square feet. There are four different floor plans for the second floor.

On the first floor, Tyrell and Ashley decided the front home office space didn’t suit their needs and instead turned it into a walk-in pantry on the first floor – the space is right next to the kitchen – and expanded it even further by adding the Remove the front entry cabinet. Downstairs, they completed the basement and it has become home for family activities, including Ashley’s den and a music zone for Tyrell’s guitars and amps.

In the meantime, if you’re wondering how the couple got back to Rosenthal years after getting lost in the area, check out a Homes by Avi townhouse to the southwest. But they had to go to Rosenthal if they wanted to see the show home. This time they knew how to get there.

Homes by Avi is currently selling single-family houses with back alleys, single-family houses with front-wheel drive and luxury bungalow villas in Rosenthal. Prices, including GST, start in the $ 390,000 range for the rear homes, $ 470,000 for the front-wheel drive homes, and the mid-range of $ 540,000 for the villas.

Co-development

As an established district, growth in Rosenthal continues to attract new buyers.

“It’s a very popular community,” said Courtney Jensen, managing partner of Strata Development, which works with Melcor in the newer southwest part of Rosenthal, where most of the new homes are being built. “It (Rosenthal) has been built over quite a long time. It’s a very large community, but we’ve seen a lot of adoption and the home starter market was particularly strong out there. “

Rosenthal, bounded by 231st Street and Winterburn Road, with Whitemud on its southern border, is also near Anthony Henday. Additionally, as some segments of Rosenthal have matured, commercial, retail, and services have emerged that bring home comforts closer to homeowners. A public school administration school is expected in the coming years.

“It’s one of the most active communities in the city of Edmonton and one of the most family-friendly in West Edmonton,” said PJ Pescod, senior development manager at Melcor.

The parish has five fountains throughout its storm pond network, there is a bridge over one of the ponds that is lit all year round for special occasions, and there is also a spray park.

Jensen said three new showcase homes are coming in front garage in the spring of 2022 as builders refresh their show home options – they are currently under construction. Laned product show houses are open for viewing in the meantime.

The clients in Rosenthal include Cantiro Homes, Homes by Avi and Pacesetter Homes.
