‘Clark Griswold meets Buddy the Elf’: Attractive sticky Christmas pop-up kicks off in downtown Edmonton
EDMONTON – A Christmas themed pop-up cocktail bar opened on Wednesday in hopes of bringing the Christmas cheer to Edmonton.
The Miracle Cocktail Bar at the CRAFT Beer Market is an impressive Christmas experience with over 1000 decorations filling the 6,000 square meter area of the bar.
According to Tyler Rygus, VP of Marketing at CRAFT Beer Market, it took “a couple of hundred elf hours” to convert from a normal bar to a Christmas spectacle.
“It’s essentially an over-the-top version of a Christmas bar,” Rygus said.
“Clark Griswold meets Buddy the Elf.”
The pop-up cocktail bar was founded in New York in 2014, expanded to four locations in the following year and sold worldwide in 2016.
The bar offers special Christmas cocktails in “wonderfully sticky” glasses.
“Realistically, our goal with everything we did here was just to spread a little happiness and happiness over the Christmas season,” said Rygus.
Rygus says the bar is following the province’s guidelines introduced Tuesday, and is reminding diners to only visit with other members of their household or a two-person cohort if they live alone.

The festive pop-up starts at 4:00 p.m. every day through December 31, and reservations are recommended due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The CRAFT Beer Market in downtown Edmonton is one of only five bars in Canada where the pop-up takes place.
