Ms. Munro said the expensive luxury homes have been built in the past 10 years, many on roads bordering the river valley park, which is considered to be its “best roads.” These are Valleyview Drive, Valleyview Point, a small street that borders Valleyview Drive, and Riverside Crescent Drive, all of which have expansive views of the park, river, and city skyline.

Ms. Packer sums up Parkview’s appeal as a combination of an established neighborhood with a great sense of community and easy access to river valley paths and high-performing schools.

It is a very green neighborhood that borders the river valley and is just a few minutes’ drive from the CBD in downtown Edmonton in the heart of the city. The streets facing the park offer views of the city skyline.

Luxurious amenities

Parkview has direct access to miles of nature trails and green spaces in the North Saskatchewan River Valley park system, which is Canada’s largest urban parkland.

To the north of Parkview is Mackenzie Ravine Park and Gardens, with steep stairs, Edmonton skyline views, and wooded walkways. The Bueno Vista / Hawrelak Park Footbridge takes hikers from Parkview across the North Saskatchewan River to the 148-acre Hawrelak Park, which features open lawns with designated picnic areas and a lake with an ice rink. The West Edmonton Mall, three miles west of Parkview, is home to Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., and Canada Goose stores, and downtown is home to the weekly farmers market.

Who lives there

Parkview residents include a number of professional business people from a variety of industries, according to Ms. Munro, given its proximity to the central business district by car.

Parkview is a safe, family-oriented community with a balance between mature families with older, adult children and those just starting out, Ms. Packer added. “It’s a wealthy community that likes to be near downtown to work.”

Notable residents

Edmonton Oilers ice hockey star Connor McDavid is a Parkview resident, according to Ms. Munro. Other Oilers players also live there, the agents said.

Canadian billionaire, businessman, and philanthropist Daryl Katz has owned a home here for about a decade, Ms. Munro said.

Ms. Munro says it takes an average of 60 days to sell Parkview homes. Inventory levels have remained roughly the same as last year (the area currently has 22 entries).

In Edmonton as a whole, real estate sales took a little longer in February 2021 compared to the same month last year. The average number of days in the market for homes priced between $ 1 million and $ 2.5 million has risen from 38 to 40, according to data from real estate exchange

Ms. Munro said the market sentiment in Parkview is positive as mortgage rates are low and the backlog created by the pandemic is fueling the property market. “A lot of people are looking for a lifestyle change after the lockdown measures,” she said.
