Amazon Opens Robotic Warehouse Close to Edmonton | CBC information

Amazon plans to open a new warehouse in Alberta that will use robotics to pick, package, and ship small items like books, electronics, and toys.

According to the company, the warehouse will create more than 1,000 full-time and part-time jobs.

The warehouse is scheduled to be built in Parkland County, Alta., West of Edmonton, and is expected to open next year.

According to Amazon, the intelligent robot systems will help employees with their tasks in the warehouse.

Last week, Amazon announced it would be getting power from a huge new solar farm in Alberta, marking the e-commerce giant’s second renewable energy investment in Canada.

Amazon has signed a contract to purchase up to 400 MW of electricity from Travers Solar, a $ 700 million, 465 MW project southeast of Calgary.
